2 Timothy 4:3 "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry".

It has begun: Tony Jones and The great apostasy *Updated*

Its the end of the world as we know it! Let us look at Matthew 24:

36 "But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. 37 For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, 39 and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Now, I am not trying to predict when the Lord will return, but I think most Christians suspect that the end is coming very soon. One of the many predictors that Jesus gave (you red-letter Christians should be interested in this) was that it will be as in the days of Noah. In the days of Noah, the wickedness of mankind raised a stench that reached the very nostrils of God, prompting God to destroy the earth with a flood. One of the wicked things that man did, according to the historical records of the Babylonians in pre-flood times was homosexual marriage. There really is nothing new under the sun.

Now Tony Jones, resident emergent theologian of Solomon's Porch, former director of the now director-less emergent village, and emergent author, has 'come out' so to speak. This is after acknowledgement of the inclusion of lesbian pastors in the emergent movement by him, He has supposedly gone over a period of study according to his new same sex marriage blogologue as he calls it:

And yet, all the time I could feel myself drifting toward acceptance that gay persons are fully human persons and should be afforded all of the cultural and ecclesial benefits that I am. ("Aha!" my critics will laugh derisively, "I knew he and his ilk were on a continuous leftward slide!")

In any case, I now believe that GLBTQ can live lives in accord with biblical Christianity (at least as much as any of us can!) and that their monogamy can and should be sanctioned and blessed by church and state.

Well, I suppose this blogalogue will be a test of whether I have good theological and philosophical reasons for supporting the rights of GLBTQ persons to marry, or whether I've simply caved to the mushy inclusivity of pluralized nothingness.

HT Belief Net

The scripture is quite clear in regards to homosexuality as a sin, as well as a number of other sins that will separate us from God. But, if you cannot have it your way, if your human reason is not supported by the Bible, then of course, you simply change the Bible. As cults such as the Jehovahs Witnesses and the Mormons have done before, the new age cult of Emergent has decided that now is the time to change God's Word to line up with their beliefs. The Voice (now used instead of the Word in John 1:1) has been released. We thought that the Message translation was bad...From Chris Roseborough:
The passage should read:

1Cor. 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality…

But, The Voice aka The New Emergent “Translation” reads:

1 Cor 6:9 Do you need reminding that the unjust have no share in the blessing of the Kingdom of God? Do not be misled. A lot of people stand to inherit nothing of God’s coming kingdom, including those whose lives are defined by sexual immorality, idolatry, adultery, sexual deviancy…

They change homosexuality to sexual deviancy. That phrase is always changing in our pluralistic society, until 1972 Homosexuality was listed as deviant sexual behavior in the DSM. Very soon, there will be no such thing as sexual deviancy. Believe me, these people who desire to make syncretize every faith as a way of making peace with God, who say that everyone is reconciled to God and just do not know it yet will put up with every type of behavior known to man rather than warn people with what the Word of God has to say about it.

The behavior of the radical homosexual is glorified and justified. They are aloud to assault, urinate upon, kick, and threaten with death Christians who simply wanted to pray in the Castro district. It is as though they went into Orissa state for a moment. They had to be escorted out by police in riot gear. This is after a majority of Californians have voted against same sex marriage. Churches have been raided, old ladies have been attacked, and countless other assaults have happened for those who stand up for the Bible. But we should expect to be persecuted for living for Jesus. And, the persecution will increase as the church of the world, including emergent, separates from the true church like the chaff from the wheat. They, like their other postmodern brothers and sisters desire to look, think, and act like the world and, in doing so, have aligned themselves with worldly thinking that is against God and the Bible, rather than those who name the name of Jesus.

As it was in the days of Noah, only those who have looked to God as their salvation will be saved from God's judgement. To do so, they needed to repent (Noah preached repentance for 120 years as he built the ark) Only 8 people did so before the flood, it was not a popular message to be sure. But it is the one we must preach to the emergent post-modern pied pipers who are trying to call what is evil good and what is good evil.

After reading some of what was in Jones' book, this statement of his isn't all that surprising. He wrote about emergent churches were some of their people saw 'gay rights' as issues of social justice, and one that actually had gay members.

After all that, I doubt if he could have said otherwise, at least not without either backing out or being forced out of emergent altogether.

And his mocking of those who have said that he and his ilk are diving to the left is perhaps the most truth-ful thing he wrote, though he tries to use humor to hide the truth of it.
